Adut Akech

Adut was born on Christmas Day in 1999 in South Sudan and arrived in South Australia as a refugee 6 years later.

Always a dedicated student but with a passion for modelling Adut
signed with Chadwick Models in April 2016 during a trip to Melbourne and
a month later was the break out star at MBFWA, walking 16 shows.

Quickly coming to the attention of leading international Agencies
Adut was placed with Elite France and within a month was flown to Paris
by Saint Laurent to walk their ready-to-wear show in September 2016 and
again March 2017.

Soon after Adut shot 4 campaigns for Saint Laurent in Paris, New
York, Los Angeles and Tokyo and signed to a World Wide Show exclusive.

In 2017 Adut was flown to London to shoot with some of the most iconic names in the business for the Pirelli Calendar.

Gaining acknowledgement at home Adut appeared in the 2017 David Jones
spring/summer campaign and was a special guest at their SS17
collections attracting media attention and appearing in a number of high
end publications.

Adut was catapulted to mainstream global attention during 2018 Haute
Couture Fashion Week in Paris when she was personally chosen by Karl
Lagerfeld for the Chanel Bridal finale. She was re quoted around the
world at the time "Cannot believe I just made history by being Chanel’s
second black couture bride, this is one of my most proudest
achievements!!!”

Karl himself was quoted in WWD- “She is delightful but, above all,
endearing. A dream of a picture-perfect young girl. I adore her!” he
enthused.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of women’s wear at Dior, had also fallen under her spell.

“Adut is more than just a model. Her radiance and positive energy is the reason why she stands out,”

She then solidified her standing in the industry closing the Valentino Show the next day.

Vinoodh along the way and referred to in 2018 as the “Darling of The Met
Ball” in New York.
